My Second Tourist 102 A1

Sage Green. 3 Milk Crates of Parts. Clock!

November 2012

I found a second 102A1.

I don't yet know what the fate will be of this rare Heinkel.

It is currently missing the following pieces:

There are only 5 of these scooters known in the USA. It would be a shame to part this out. I am hoping to find the missing pieces.

September 2022

Frame and forks Rusty parts

I now own the remainder of this scooter!

The fellow who sold me the parts in 2012 found most of the missing pieces and contacted me in 2021. I finally purchased those this month and I hope to have everything later this year.

This will be a big project. For whatever reason, someone disassembled the entire motor. It is likely I am missing pieces and it is more likely that some I have must be replaced. Many engine pieces are unique to the 102A-1 model.

As we know, uniqueness and rarity translate into higher prices. I suspect this may be my most expensive project to date.

June 2025

I now own a restorable motor for this scooter!

The motor components that accompanied my earlier purchase were largely destroyed. Holes in the cases, missing internals, rusty everythings. It was not usable.

Like the motors in the 101A-0 and 103A-0, the 102A-1 motor is unique to the 102A-1. None of my spare A1 or A2 motors are of use here. In 2023, I started actively hunting a replacement motor. After a few false starts, I found one in the Netherlands from a source I've had for nearly 20 years. On the last day of June, the motor has arrived.

I plan to start the motor rebuild in October - I need to host HeinkelFest first!
