I recently completed this 1960 103A-1 project, and it is now for sale.
This Tourist was an active participant at HeinkelFest2023.
Attendee Shawn rode it the entire week covering 100+ miles including destinations to Black Forest and Pikes Peak!
I guess you can label this Tourist as "Pikes Peak Certified"!

Pictured is an A1 project I acquired in 2022.
My immediate goal is to make it a runner again. The challenge for me ... I have a weakness for the A1 model. It will be tempting to fully restore this scooter.
Even though the bumper on the nose is bent, little else requires body work.
I plan to start disassembly in December and would like to think it will be ready to ride by March. We shall see.
Once running, I plan to sell it as is.

This Tourist is a smooth runner! I just fired it up for the first time, with no struggle whatsoever.
In the very near future, I'll have it all scrubbed down. From there, I plan on installing:
- New cables
- New wiring harness
- New rubber
- New tires & tubes
I am sure there will be more.

Quick update. I removed the motor for cleaning. As part of this, I replaced:
- Brushes
- Crank oil seal
- Mushroom seal
- Clutch plates
- Clutch cover gasket

I spent the better part of the last week wrapping up loose ends. The items remaining:
- Install grips
- Install quick release wiring harness plug
- Install fork cable bracket
- Connect rear brake switch
I did not mount the crashbars. Personally, I don't like the look. But if you want them...
