Gerry Goldberg's Second A2 Repair Journal

April 27, 2006

Oh my, I had no intention of skipping the entire month of March and most of April.

During the engine rebuild, I had discovered that the second gear cog had extreme wear. So, I basically had to wait for a big box of parts to arrive. After the parts, and the gear arrived, I discovered that the new second gear was slightly different than the original. So, I sent frantic e-mails to people. After several weeks, I had only a few responses that basically told me nothing.

Meanwhile, I double checked the parts book looking for variations. For both A1 and A2s, they all use the same part number. Subsequent discussions with other people led me to believe that the changes probably wouldn't affect use. Check out the differences below:

Gear differences. Gear differences.

During the rebuild of Gerry's first A2, I took several shots of his gear assembly. For whatever reason, I never posted them. I decided that they are important in case you forget how things line up.
